Geuder Akahoshi Pre-Chopper Forceps

  • Tip Opens To 3.0mm
  • Shafts Open To 1.7mm At The Incision
  • Precision Construction

The Pre-Chopper Forceps are designed to mechanically split the nucleus into four smaller segments through a micro-incision.

Safe and efficient: The splitting of the nucleus

The sharp tip of the Pre-Chopper Micro-Forceps is used to penetrate the nucleus. By squeezing the handle, the tip is opened to split the nucleus. The tip opens to 3.0 mm while the shaft of the forceps only opens to 1.7 mm at the site of the incision. By turning the forceps, the blunt edge may be used to go deeper into the initial crack to safely and completely split the nucleus.

The small nucleus segments can be emulsified in the anterior chamber by reduced manipulation of the phaco tip and using minimized ultrasonic energy. As a consequence, mechanical and thermal damage to the incision wound is reduced.
