The adjustable Gerten Pendulum Marker is a new type of instrument for marking axes on the cornea. It was specially designed for surgical procedures to correct astigmatism, such as: the implantation of a toric posterior chamber IOL, a toric phakic IOL, LASIK, CK etc. It preoperatively marks the cylinder axis on the cornea to ensure precise positioning.
The product is comprised of two parts - an instrument with a pendulum and a retainer for setting the desired degree.
The Gerten Pendulum Marker is very easy to use. The degree of the cylinder axis is first measured and defined on the eye. Using the retainer, the degree is then set on the instrument. The set instrument is than colored with a marker and placed on the cornea of the sitting patient to mark the cylinder axis. The pendulum ensures the correct positioning.
Optimal results of the surgical procedure are attained when the lines on the implanted IOL align exactly with the markings of the cornea.
