NIDEK ConfoScan 4 Confocal Scanning Microscope for Corneal Analysis
Fully Automatic Examination
The ConfoScan 3 is designed for easy operation. There are no dials to turn and alignment can be performed with one hand. Click the exam button and the CS3 will automatically records the exam with user defined parameters, such as corneal thickness and number of passes.
Auto Alignment
The ConfoScan 3 is features a full software function which helps to align the best patient's eye condition.
Automatic Examination Mode
The ConfoScan 3 allows to perform automatic examinations, regardless of the corneal thickness or other user parameters. A function named 'AutoScan' allows to Align, and follow the eye movements in the entire duration of the examination, dramatically reducing the amount of recorded black images
DVR- Digital Video Recorder
The ConfoScan 3's DVR interface allows the user to quickly review all 350 images or play the entire exam sequence back at an adjustable speed. The user can save sequences, single images or delete unwanted photos.
New Z-Scan Optical Pachimetry
The ConfoScan 3 provides the physician with a detailed display of the cornea's thickness The curve represents the intensity profile of the reflected light at each corneal layer. The number of curves and scanning depth are user definable. In order to avoid unwanted effects, such as the patient's pulse, a number of passes can be made and the average wave can be calculated. In 'AutoScan' mode the unit adjust all the parameters for the best recording condition.
Distance Immersion Principle
The ConfoScan 3's DIP method adds to the patient comfort and effectiveness of the measurement.
The 2 mm. working distance and the immersion gel ensure that there is no pressure applied to the cornea. The automatic detector prevents any unwanted pressure from being applied to the patient's eye.
Automatic Cell Analysis
The integrated cell analysis software will automatically count the cells of the endothelium providing a cell density along with statistical data. Manual cell counts can be made of all cell layers.
With the ConfoScan 3 system you can conduct true in-vivo analysis of all of the cellular layers of the anterior parts of the eye with incredibly high magnification and fidelity.
Previously, this imagery was only available with histologic analysis of dead tissue under a microscope. Consequently, the changes in living tissue structures can be documented with unheard of fidelity; this gives the practitioner unsurpassed diagnostic capabilities.
The layers of organic structures are scanned in real time; advanced software allows detailed analysis of all examinations.
The eye can be examined without an invasive procedure or direct contact; this eliminate damage to tissues under examination. As a result, the healing process following a surgery or changes in the equilibrium of segments of the cornea can be observed. Fundamental principles for new diagnostic capabilities in ophthalmology are being laid.
A comprehensive analysis of all data obtained is integrated into the system and can be stored or retrieved by the NAVIS Database.
